Stayed 2 weeks ago for a surprise 50th birthday celebration. 4 poster room with fantastic sea views and a gorgeous bathroom, THE most amazing dinner and the tastiest English Breakfast I’ve eaten in a long time. Had 2 beach walks from the front door. Location was a peaceful retreat and we came away relaxed and our batteries recharged. Will definitely return and bring our bikes as 1 night not enough. Hotel owners were the perfect hosts, friendly and accommodating. Thank you for helping to make this a very special birthday.
We’ve stayed here a couple of times in winter and it has been just marvellous. Dramatic location right beside the beach. Lisa does a sterling job front of house, and Clinton is a particularly talented chef. The rooms are immaculate, and what a nice touch that Lisa put us in the same room the second time we visited – made it just that much more homely. The dining was superb on both occasions – thoughtful of the chef to be able to accommodate even inconvenient dietary requirements. The area has so much to visit and so much to see. We’ll definitely be back.
The hotel is in a class of its own – a class that is, sadly, all too rare these days. Independent, slightly idiosyncratic – and with very high standards. The friendly owners clearly wanted to ensure our stay was as comfortable as it could be. The hotel has been converted from a large period house and little of its original charm has been lost. There is a lookout which, as well as housing a comprehensive collection of cookery books, DVDs and games, furnishes a panoramic view of the coast. Our large and well-furnished bedroom (bathroom en suite) overlooked the sea, and possessed a very comfortable four poster bed which did not dominate the space. A roaring log fire greeted us as we sat down to enjoy our pre-dinner drinks and dinner… Ah…dinner! Four courses of some of the best food we have ever enjoyed anywhere in the UK and we savoured it. Next morning, breakfast was hearty enough to keep us going almost all day, with fruit, yoghurt, muesli, poached pears and other goodies being available before a traditional breakfast was cooked to order.
